Our team offers support during the medical exam, and we work hard to convey clear and accurate information to the VA and their raters.

What To Expect

During your Compensation and Pension (C&P) Disability Exam, our Nurse Practitioner, who is also a certified VA Medical Examiner, will gather detailed information about your military experience and medical history. A thorough assessment will be conducted, as indicated and according to VA guidelines.

We understand the importance of your claim, as well as the accuracy of details, and timeliness of submission. Therefore, your claim will be forwarded to the VA within 24-48 hours after your visit. Submission time may vary if additional diagnostics are needed to help substantiate your claim (i.e., x-rays, labs, EKG, echocardiogram, and pulmonary function tests).

You will be notified of any significant abnormal diagnostic test results and if any concerning assessment is made during your exam, we will recommend that you follow up at a local urgent care or with your primary care provider for management and treatment. If any further evidence is needed to help substantiate your claim, you will be made aware of such and asked to forward evidence to the VA Evidence Intake Center.

OHHH services are by appointment only. Please contact the Veterans Benefits Administration for details on how to file your claim. To file the claim online visit https://www.va.gov/disability/how-to-file-claim/. Once your claim is filed, the VA will send an appointment date and time, as well as the location for your C&P exam. You may request to visit OHHH for your C&P exam, but we may not be the facility the VA chooses to send you to.

OHHH does not provide disease management or treatment during a C&P exam. Please see your primary care physician for non-emergent medical issues or call 911 for emergent medical care. If you are not feeling well or acutely ill, please call to reschedule your disability exam.
